saw two female ruby-throats today - they appeared late morning, made me think they were not the local residents (the temperature in our garden, located in a cold pocket, had reached 40 degrees last night, which I think drove the bulk of the remaining birds to start travelling - these may have stopped for food on their way from somewhere north of here.)
