Saw very briefly what I thought to be a very small 2.5-3 inch, gray/white striped back hummingbird. Could this have been a hummingbird or were my eyes deceiving me. The bird hovered very briefly around my purple flowering mexican petunia shrubs.

Please respond if time permits. I would like to know if this was a rare species.
