Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/17/2010

Number: 1

My wife Karen and I spent this past Friday (9/17) to Sunday (9/19) at Pelee and despite some cooler and cloudy weather at times, there were some interesting butterflies to be seen.

Friday was cloudy and cool with northeast winds, but in less than 2 hours walking south along West Beach from the VC (Visitor Centre to the tip I estimated about 5000 Monarchs flying south in a constant stream overhead. Best day was Saturday when winds were brisk out of the southwest.
