Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/23/2010

Number: 200

Last night shortly before sunset,my son and I saw hundreds of monarchs fluttering around our side yard and roosting for the night in our trees. We have a long breakfront of large pine trees that provided them shelter from the wind. I did not see any reportings yet this far west, so felt I should report it.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
