We were traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC on Tuesday September 21, 2010. We stopped at EB Jeffress Park (MP 271.9) for a picnic. Monarch butterflies were coming in a continuous stream from the direction of the parkway into the picnic area. They would stop at a sunny patch of goldenrod near our table before continuing on over the mountain. I watched and photographed them between 1 and 3:30pm. My observation time: I was watching for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
