When I was visiting in southern Indiana during the week of September 12-18, I took an early evening walk on a country road heavily bordered with large trees. As the light faded, I began to see Monarchs floating down and alighting on the trees. In the five or so minutes I watched, I saw around 30 butterflies coming down and settling down for the night. Then, it became too dark to see any longer.
