Signs of Fall

Date: 09/23/2010

Number: 1

Our third grade class went out on Sept.22 and looked for signs of fall. We used two of our senses for this observation, what we saw and what we heard. We saw the leaves just starting to turn orange on the sweet gum tree outside our class. The wild grass on the nearby hill side is all brown now. The flowers on some weeds have turned into seed puff balls and are starting to blow away in the wind. Cumulus clouds where in the sky,but the sun was shining through. We still have hummingbirds, house finch, morning doves, house sparrows, black phoebes, crows, and one cooper's hawk that visit our class bird feeders. The wind was whistling through the leaves today and the birds were all singing! The temperature was 75 degress F at 11:30 am.
