Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/18/2010

Number: 1

Hello From Cape May!

Our normal “weekly” report was delayed for the best of reasons.
While week #2 saw an increase in migrant monarchs through Cape May, an orange blizzard hit in the middle of week #3. Even by historic standards this was a huge flight. On the 3 road census runs on September 18th Jenny Howard and Michael O’Brien recorded 1592 monarchs in a total of 60 minutes of observation! Weekly totals are posted on our website.

For those of us (including yours truly) who were not in Cape May last week there are likely more monarchs on their way.
