Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/22/2010

Number: 1

I remarked to myself this morning that I was observing along the north shore of Lake Ontario a good monarch migration along the north shore of Lake Ontario near Oshawa in spite of threatening rain clouds and strong westerly winds. Further west at the Cranberry Marsh Hawk Watch at Whitby, after the day turned sunny, it got spectacular. Must be some of those I reported last night minus the 140 I captured:

"It was a quiet day today with only 10 hawks moving through in 4 .5 hours, but other spectacles were truly amazing. It was perhaps the best Monarch flight I think I've ever seen with many hundreds (thousands?) of them going though. At most times all through the observation period, 30-50m were in view as they streamed westward.
