Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/24/2010

Number: 1

It took two years to finally get a permit to enter the flood channel by the Salt River & McClintock in Tempe. As the sun began to set, at least five or six monarchs floated in from the river to roost on the SE side of willow and cottonwood trees along the channel where we were standing. We are 4 days before the average time of peak migration. We will explore this area further in the upcoming days. High 104 degrees. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
