Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/25/2010

Number: 1

Hooray! A beautiful orange wave of Monarchs just came through the city around 1pm! In one hour starting at 11:30am, I counted 95 Monarchs, but then, around 1pm, the wave arrived and I counted 171 butterflies in 20 minutes. Sky was overcast, no wind, cool temps near 70F. They flew through my yard, some stopping to nectar at the flowers, while others came in at all levels, some quite high above the trees. An hour later, it is now raining, so they knew they had to move on before the weather changed! My observation time: I was watching for _1__ hours and _20__ minutes.
