I always keep records of the last eggs and caterpillars I find in NE PA. This autumn:

Last eggs: 9/10, nine eggs on tattered milkweeds in an industrial area of Carbondale, PA

Last caterpillar (so far): 9/26, a big 5th instar cp on a yellow milkweed leaf near Milanville PA, close to the Upper Delaware River.
