Drove the parkway from The Arboretum to Devil's courthouse stopping a most of the viewing spots. I started at about 1:30 and left at 5:30. My primary goal was to look for Monarchs at Wagon Road Gap and Cherry Gap. Hawk watchers at Mills River (?) said they had seen several flying in the distance. It was on the trail at Wagon Gap that I found 30-40 Monarchs fluttering about and feeding on wildflowers. I never saw more than a few at a time. The front was coming in, there were none at Cherry Gap- a woman there told me she had seen a multitude feeding at Devil's Courthouse, but by the time I got there they were gone. My observation time: I was watching for __4_ hours and ___ minutes.
