Standing out in the sunshine around 5 pm with my last art student, we enjoyed a wonderful Godwink as two very large Monarchs twirled down to inspect us. They lifted and dove to circle around us several times. Then my richly hued visitors sideslipped riding the wind to glide over the garden. Briefly, they sipped nectar from a pair of late blooming daylilies before lifting to catch the breeze on it's southwest route. My student stood bewitched by her close encounter of the butterfly kind, they carry such magic in their velvet wings! My observation time: 10 minutes.
