Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/27/2010

Number: 1

There have been a handful of late Monarchs still feeding on our back hills (goldenrod) the last two days. Saw 3 or 4 yesterday, and two today. Wind southerly, so that is holding them. Yesterday, one of the Monarchs was missing most of a lower wing so I captured it and repaired it with the last wing I had from a dead Monarch I found this summer. The butterfly was able to fly, although it labored. I had hoped to see it today to find out how it was doing now, but no luck. Temps getting to the 60s and even 70s this week. Hope the wind switches from the north with such good temps. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
