I was astounded to see a hummer on my butterfly bush Saturday, September 25. It was 7:30 am. and I was making coffee when I looked out the window to see him making the rounds from one bracket of blooms to another. Not having seen a hummingbird the previous two days before that I had assumed they had headed south. I did not see him the rest of the day. Perhaps this was a migrant stopping over for nourishment to continue on. This is a full week later than I have ever seen them before up here in the highlands.
