Before this well needed rain tagging has ben productive. Nectar source is still about 95% Bidens, so there are not many near the lakeshore itself.

9/23 I85 saw 20 tagged 7 (caught one already tagged, a first for me at the lake!!! cant wait to find out where it came from!!!)

9/23 Butner site saw 22 tagged 7

With reared larva I'm at 117 tagged this year, my highest total yet.

Percentages of females have increased steadily and balanced out right now (9/27), at what is about the PEAK of their migratory flight I'd GUESS. We'll see what happens after this rain and on Oct 1 and 3 efforts. Bidens should stay in bloom so that will be the first stop, I'm really interested to see if they flock to the Baccharus like they did last fall, it's just barely starting to bloom and may be too late for the bugs this year. Last fall also had a two day push of monarchs for Wake County Bacharrus at the lake, a site they ignored while the northern lake regions was full of them for several days.
