Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/28/2010

Number: 1

Just saw 12 Monarchs in 10 minutes. There on the move after the bad weather we had for the last two days here in Statesville. My observation time: I was watching for 10_ minutes.

Counting the Monarchs of my first report(12) and the ones seen within an hour of my first report(32), my total was 44. I have seen very few in the last hour and a half. My observation time: I was watching for __2_ hours and __30_ minutes.

Arrived home at 4:00 P.M. and began to watch for Monarchs. Saw 6 to 8 in a matter of minutes. All headed west to south west. I had an idea to use binoculars an scan the sky away from the Sun(with my back to the Sun). I looked at clouds and could easily see many Monarchs flying several hundred feet up above me. They were scattered out one here, five there and so on. It has been a great afternoon of Monarch watching. My observation time: I was watching for __2_ hours and __30_ minutes.
