Temp. now in Baton Rouge,LA is 66 degrees, nice. It was 7:30 am before I observed a hummer this morning. At 8:25 am, I observed 2 chasing each other. No other activity until now, 10am, when I was watering plants, and squirted a feeder in tree, and squirted the small tree, and a hummer buzzed away. I guess he was perched on a branch, that I did not notice. I have not seen any hummers feeding at my window feeders today. I read in our local newspaper today about Mr. Patton, from Louisiana, who is licensed to band hummingbirds. He reported that Rufous and 10 other species arrive in Baton Rouge in November, so I will leave my feeders fresh thru November. I would love to attract another species, as I have only seen RTs.
