We spotted at least 5 monarchs near the shore line by the boat ramp. They were flying and then landing on the ground (rocky, hard ground that is usually under water but we've had a serious lack of rain in these parts this summer) for a few seconds and then would repeat this until they flew off altogether. One of the monarchs had about 1/3 of it's left forewing torn off, but seemed to be flying well.
It was a partly sunny day in the mid 70s with little breeze. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
