a majestic, carrion-eating symbol of our nation soars above the pastoral landscape of the 8th fairway. it is 4:12pm, a sunny, 72 degree day, warm for the 27th of september, with a wafting breeze out of the northwest at 5mph. as i stand contemplating the cruel vagaries of the newly endeavored sport(?)of golf, a single monarch merrily dances southward down the fairway, reminding me that even in the darkest of times, joy and hope can spring from the most mundane moments of the universe. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
