Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/24/2010

Number: 1

Elizabeth Hunter forwarded this note from a hawkwatcher friend about his observations of monarchs at Mahogany Rock, near Sparta, NC, at Milemarker 235 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

"The Monarchs have been phenomenal this year so far with many hours of the day filled with up to 10 to 13 per minute passing the binocular view. I sampled by passing my binocular view up and down in one place to catch the high and low ones passing a particular point. Everyone stopping by is awed by the number in the air and on the many flowers around the overlook."
My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
