Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/29/2010

Number: 1

female ruby throated hummingbirds has been coming to our feeders, but not as frequent as they did a week ago, when i first set up a feeder on an oak tree (sep 23) not even entirely sure how many come to visit since they all look alike! but once, i had one visitor chased by another, so that accounts to two coming to the feeders but i have never seen more than one feed at a time. unlike our neighbor at the end of the street that has a beautiful garden and have swarms of hummingbirds fighting for a spot.

i have a total of 4 feeders, i used to see one every 5-10 minutes in any of the feeders, now i could sit out in a lawn chair all day and would see one every 20-30 or so minutes. i would love to see more, but the visits have been dwindling and im afraid my location and and intances that had occured proved to be not worth their while. (wasps and neighborhood cats) i plan to keep the feeders out all year and see how things go.
