I have sighted about fifty Monarchs over the past three weeks, very slow here right now. I have caught thirteen and tagged eleven. A few of the Monarchs I caught were in very bad shape. Some had parts of their wings missing or broken, and most had very small abdomens and were weak in my hands. I did not tag the ones with broken wings, as they could barely fly. They are feeding on the Cowpen Daisy (Verbesina encelioides), which are in abundance right now. I am patiently waiting on more to come through. Only 189 left to tag for this season.
