Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/30/2010

Number: 1

About two weeks ago, Sept 17th, we were having our largest numbers in the backyard, then a week of rain and they just hung around, today, after a week of north winds, we are having our smallest numbers ... one, sometimes two, once four at the feeders. They've had a light, consistent north wind all day and all night for a week ... just what they needed for that tailwind to get them on their way to the Yucatan! That's it until next spring ... we'll enjoy the one or two as long as they need to stay! At noon today Altus and I watched four kettles of Broad-winged Hawks migrating to the south. 400, 300, 75, and 75 moving to the SSW on the light north wind. The Corpus Hawkwatch had a day of 54,225 earlier this week!
