Signs of Fall

Date: 09/26/2010

Number: 1

The leaves are beginning to change on the maples. There are a few tress that are still very green. The Mississippi river valley is a wonderful mix or reds, greens, oranges and yellows. The days are getting obviously shorter and a little cooler- it takes longer to warm up in the mornings and cools off quickly in the evenings. The previous week we had some large storms and flood producing rains. The rains led to a great many gnats that hatched and were bothersome on the playground of our school.
The apples are ripening and there are many different kinds at the Farmer's market. The squash is also ready, and when driving outside of the cities you can see the orange pumpkins ripe in fields.
