I have hundreds of monarchs,or low thousands roosting in my pecans. We tagged 250 today in my Env. Systems class.
Numbers dropped on Sun. Oct. 3rd as a mild north breeze took place, only a few hundred... but numbers up on Monday, around two thousand, Oct. 4th. Still roosting. Nectar sources are lantana, maximillion sunflowers, red Salvia greggi, butterfly bush, gay feather.
