Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/29/2010

Number: 1000

October 10
We have another wave of monarch's. They started moving in Friday 10-8 about 600 of them roosting in the trees.
Yesterday 10-9 we had about 1000.

Today 10-10 we still have about 1000 roosting. This year they have been here longer than in the pass.

October 2
Butterflies showed up on Thursday evening 9-29-10 and stayed in the pecan trees. It's Saturday 10-2-10 and they are still here with more showing up. They come and stay every year around the first cold front. They stay about two to three days.

The monarch's are still roosting. There are about 100 in the pecan trees today Monday 10-4,they are decreasing in numbers. Saturday we had about 1000 monarchs, ever since than they have started to decrease. I've attached a couple of pictures I took today. Do you think they like the pecan trees because of the sap?
