The big bluestem grasses are turning autumn brown, the sawtooth sunflowers are going to seed, and the New England asters still are flashing their bright purples. But the monarch butterfly migration has ended at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. During a one-hour morning visit, no monarchs were observed for the first time this fall.
