Signs of Fall

Date: 10/04/2010

Number: 1

My second grade class looked at the trees outside our classroom at 10:15 this morning. The leaves today are green with brown edges, and some are totally brown. Leaves are just beginning to fall of the trees. While last week we had temperatures in the high 90's and low 100's, today it was only 68 degrees F at 10:19. The sky is laden with heavy, dark clouds. There is a mist in the air and rain is a definate possibility. Crows stil are on our campus, but so are smaller birds with more beautiful songs. We've seen doves and enjoyed their cooing. There is also a pair of gray birds with white stripes across their wings who make a lovely trill. My students collected leaves and two different kinds of seeds they found on the ground. One type was small and brown, the other a bit larger and green.
