Altus and I drove just over 7 miles across the Lavaca Bay Causeway to the north end peninsula and came back this morning between 9:30 and 10:10 am. In those 40 minutes we saw 10 monarchs ... 6 monarchs flying cross to the causeway, 2 were flying cross to the peninsula, 2 seen on sunflowers alongside the peninsula ... which Altus netted. Clear, wind N @ 10, 66 dF. All those crossing were moving generally from ENE to WSW, the causeway and peninsula run from NE to SW, Point Comfort to Port Lavaca.
Our observation time: We were watching for 40 minutes.
