Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/07/2010

Number: 1

I released my last emerging butterfly yesterday, a male. In the afternoon we saw a different Monarch in a sheltered sunny spot on the back hill. It showed the flight behavior of a new butterfly, but kept flying in circles after short stops. It was missing the tip of its upper left wing but flew well. After a few minutes we saw it circle up and up into the sky and the northwest wind helped it on its way....a late entry to the migration. Temps about 70, sunny, northwest wind. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
