We saw our last Hummingbird on Sept. 28, 2010. She was a female Ruby Throat who hovered for several minutes in front of my kitchen window, as if saying "so long." We're lonely already, and looking forward to their return in the spring. They usually hover in front of the same window when they come back in mid-March, saying "We're back!" (and "Where's our dinner?" if I am lating getting the feeders out.
