My husband, son and I went down to Pine Neck Drive in Patchogue to sit by the water and kayak Swan River. We saw several (about 4-5) monarchs feeding on Golden Rod nectar between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. They appeared healthy and strong.

My observation time: I was watching for 2 hours.
