I saw a single female hummingbird at one of my backyard feeders around 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. She did not stay very long....took a few sips, perched in a nearby live oak for a few minutes, then moved to a lantana bush. She sipped briefly from the lantana flowers, then left the yard and did not return (that I am aware of). My sightings have become much, much less frequent. Just 2 to 3 weeks ago I had multiple hummers in the yard at the same time, frequently fighting amongst themselves and chasing one another away from the various feeds. For the last month or 5 weeks, I have only been seeing females.
