As I was taking my morning walk at 7:30 am (October 9th), I spotted a tree with hundreds of monarchs. It was absolutely breathtaking and I had to come home and do a bit of research. I found out that there is a Monarch Festival today in Navarre, Florida. My family will be going to find out more about these beautiful creatures.
Editor's Note: We have dated this sighting as October 8th, the likely night the roost formed. For consistency, we date all roosts observations for the first night they formed.
Editor’s Note: We are estimating 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
