Had a late hummingbird about an hour ago, visiting the red impatiens in the container on the center of my patio. I had bent over to pick off some spent leaves when I heard a super-loud humming in the vicinity of the flowers. I must be honest and admit I did not actually SEE the bird, but their sounds are so distinctive that it left no doubt in my mind as to what it was! I still have quite a few blooms for it, should it decide to stay a while, including the last of my white butterfly bushes and my spotted jewelweed.
