After seeing ONE Monarch flying by yesterday evening At Kingwood Garden Center, I went back this morning.
Observed 3 fast moving Monarchs flying by in about 30 minutes or so observing. Various heights of flight. Two within 6 feet of ground, and the 3rd was about 20 feet high.
Still crisp cool morning especially in shade. Seemed to be more butterflies (all species) as morning progressed. If time I may go back later this afternoon.
Monarchs were all flying the same direction.
The morning was cool, in the upper 50s. Sunny, 40% humidity. I believe I read NE winds at 3 miles.
Went to a pocket park about a mile away and observed one more Monarch flying about 40 feet high. It disappeared into a OAK tree and it seemed to disappear.
