Today we went to the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin vines were dead and brown on the ground and the bright orange pumpkins lay all around. We saw the geese gathering by the river and practicing the v shape over our heads for their flight soon to the south. The farmers were busy digging up the sugar beets and hauling them in huge trucks to the sugar beet dumps. From there they are weighed and then sent on by truck or train to the sugar beet factory in the city of Billings MT. The leaves of the cottonwoods are turning yellow and falling off the trees.
