Weve had three or four sunny days in Ontario, temperatures in Toronto high enough for monarchs to fly and feed. Daytime high today bit over 70F today.
Night time lows, well....BURRRRRRRR. I hope these late reports suggest many more monarchs made it south and the overwintering population will be greater this
year:
Howard Herscovitch reports seeing dozens and dozens of monarchs feeding on New England aster at Col. Sam Smith Park on the Lake Ontario shore towards the west end of Toronto on October 10th.
In the east end of Toronto on Saturday, October 9th at the Scarborough Bluffs, Bob Yukich counted 61 monarchs.
Numerous other butterfly species also reported in Toronto over the past few days.
