The first male ruby-throated hummingbird arrived in our garden in Guayabo de Bagaces, Guanacaste, Costa Rica on October 12, 2010. In the past, the Rubythroats generally arrive at the end of October and stay until the beginning of March. I don't use feeders so they only use the flowers in bloom.
