Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/13/2010

Number: 12

I observed about 15-20 monarchs on our ranch. 12 roosted in live oak tree. I have turned our ranch into a sustainable operation with holistic farming and ranching techniques. I've planted native grasses and have let wild flowers grow and seed. That has been the big change over the past two years. You can read more about the ranch and our operations on Sage to Meadow.

The first thing I can tell you about nectar sources is that our verbena has come out again in the fall and I still have stands of Texas groundsel.

My observation time: I was watching for 30__ minutes.
