Reporting from Monarch Waystation #299, Virginia Living Museum. In the Children's Learning Garden I found 3 1st instar and 3 5th instar monarch caterpillars on the common milkweeds! It's been a warm summer. I will rear them and if they make it I'll be releasing the youngest ones as tagged migrants, maybe as late as November.
