Woke up today and was surprised to see a freshly emerged male monarch basking in the morning sun in my front yard on a geranium blossom. It's wings were both wide open and it's proboscis out searching for something to eat. I am wondering if this was a monarch reared in a neighboring school classroom or not?? Regardless, I am guessing this will be one of the last I will see in the wild in MN for the season. We have had unseasonably warm temperatures in the 60s all weekend.
