Our class observed 22 butterfies in 20 minutes (5 minute intervals). In the first five minutes, we observed 7; in the second 3; the third five minutes we observed 5 and in the final interval we observed 7. It was a sunny day (80 degrees)with low humidity. We observed the butterflies resting and nectaring on the milkweed and black-eyed susans in our native plant garden. We also observed moths, dragon flies, bees, caterpillars, beetles, wasps, fies, one hummingbird, mosquitos, grasshoppers and crickets in the garden.
