Signs of Fall

Date: 10/22/2010

Number: 1

Late fall certainly arrived here in Ontario last night (10/21), with a hard frost in Toronto (ice on the windshield this morning) and a couple of centimetres of snow reportedly falling in the snow belt, at Newmarket about 3/4 hour drive north of Toronto.

Receiving reports of northern birds being seen in the south. At my favorite park, Presqu'ile, the first boreal chickadee seen there in quite some time was found along with a snow bunting. Other boreal chickadees reported in other locations. Brown cap and unusual song.

Halloween may be chilly! Was a clear sky last night, so hence the frost.
