About 50 monarchs getting nectar off of a group of wild flowers nestled under several oak and cedar trees. It was about 5:30 until 6:35 that my husband and I observed them. We spent quite a while photographing the monarchs. There were several large and a few smaller monarchs. I am not familiar with the wild flower they were getting nectar from, but the plants ranged from 2 to 5 ft. tall plants, wide green leaves, with a top cluster of small white flowers. The weather was comfortable, a light breeze blowing. My observation time: I was watching for _1__ hours and _5__ minutes.

Editor's Note: The top image is a monarch, and lower image is a monarch look-alike is a close relative of the monarch butterfly, called the queen butterfly. Presumably the observer is referring to the queens when noting the "smaller" monarchs.
