I walked the section of the beach between Portofino Island Resort and Range Point along Santa Rosa Sound in the Gulf Islands National Seashore. At first you just see bushes with white flowers in the distance. Then you look closer. After walking through the brambles you see hundreds of beautiful monarchs. I started my walk around 5:30pm. I visited the roost site that I located on 10/19/10 and saw no butterflies. I think the music from the wedding at Portofino was causing the butterflies to roost farther away. My observation time: I was watching for __1_ hours and _30__ minutes.
