100-150 monarchs hanging out in trees next door. Netted 16 for tagging with Cub Scouts this evening.
Cub scouts and boy scouts here at the house this evening! Lots of kids with flashlights 'sneaking' around the trees here in Ella Heights. We netted 15 of the 100 in the trees, just to let them tag a few. Almost out of the 200 tags we had.
It is SO warm and still and muggy here with some breezes out of the SSE during the day, so that monarchs seem to just be hanging out. By the time we netted the 15 monarchs and carried the bughut back to the house to tag them at the dining table TWO PAIR had mated! I decided to store them in envelopes in the fridge so that they wouldn't ALL fall out of diapause, but I suspect that that could already be happening.
