Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/17/2010

Number: 1

As we arrived home from church around noon, a beautiful *pristine* female Monarch was flying around in the sun over our front yard before she finally landed, resting on our lawn. She may have been getting moisture off of the blades of grass, I'm not sure--she flew away when I got too close.

It's been a *beautifully* warm fall, this year, though we do not have many flowers blooming after the few frosts we've had--some petunias, snapdragons, and verbena on the porch; a few small flowers on rue; a few purple salvia; and a couple of phlox. We have a flower on a Jerusalem artichoke stalk that's still in bloom, too. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
